What Do You Need In An Air Compressor?

An air compressor can be a useful piece of equipment to have on hand for either personal use around the house to use in a variety of business applications. Available in a variety of sizes and types, there is an air compressor available to suit your needs.

Porter Cable, Husky, and Curtis are just a few of the brand names available on the market today. Small sized Air Compressors are small enough to be portable but big enough for just about any job around the home that requires the pressure of forced air. Some of the reasons that Air Compressors might be needed around the home are to add air to lawn mower or vehicle tires, or using forced air to clean dust from inside of appliances like the refrigerator or air conditioner. There are many pneumatic tools available for use with Air Compressors that make these tasks easier. Pneumatic tools use the compressed air to perform their tasks. Nail guns, screwdrivers, paint guns, and impact wrenches are a small sampling of pneumatic tools available.

The motors on air compressors, as with any motor, will require some maintenance. There are belts that will need to be checked regularly and replaced as needed, as well as cleaning the vents and filters to maintain good airflow to the motor. There are also valves that need to checked and replaced as needed. The tanks will need to be regularly drained as well. The tanks collect condensation from the air that is compressing. There is normally a valve just for this purpose. Not all tanks will have the same requirements. It is good to check the requirements for the models you might be interested in.

Air Compressors are a wise investment since they can provide an array of usage. Choosing the right air compressor depends on several factors. If the compressor is to needed for use in a mechanic shop, chances are that a larger commercial type model would be required due to heavy usage of pneumatic tools. On the other hand, a small pancake type air compressor is ideal for normal household usage. Most households will not require the use of an air compressor on a regular basis. It is very beneficial to have one on hand if necessary to add air to a car tire or some other small task such as airing up a basketball.
